In the spirit of service and generosity, the Women of Service and Hope carried out a week-long rural service project in Barangay Del Rosario, Ticao Island, Masbate, from April 15 to 21, 2026.
Guided by the theme “Gifted to Give as We Have Received,” the outreach brought together women volunteers who shared their time, resources, and talents in responding to the needs of the local community.
The initiative was inspired by the Jubilee Year 2025 and one of the resolutions of the Regional Assembly of Opus Dei, which called for concrete efforts to help alleviate poverty and serve communities in need. Through this initiative, the Women of Service and Hope sought to put this spirit of service into action by reaching out to families and children in a rural community.
Serving Through Practical Help
One of the highlights of the outreach was the continued improvement of the Barangay Del Rosario Chapel. Volunteers worked on the finishing touches of the chapel, including the installation of screens for its three doors and improvements to the flooring and altar area.
These efforts aimed to help provide the community with a more suitable and welcoming space for prayer, worship, and community activities.
But the outreach went beyond physical improvements. The Women of Service and Hope also conducted a feeding program for 100 children, providing nourishment while creating opportunities for the children to learn, interact, and grow in their faith.

Nurturing Faith and Family
As part of the outreach, the volunteers conducted catechism and interactive classes for children, creating a fun and engaging environment where they could deepen their understanding of their faith and strengthen their relationship with God.
A parenting class for 50 mothers was also held, recognizing the important role parents play in shaping the values, character, and future of their children. The activity provided an opportunity for mothers to learn, reflect, and share experiences with one another.
Through these activities, the project addressed not only the material needs of the community but also its spiritual, educational, and family needs.
A Continuing Commitment to Service
The Women of Service and Hope carries out rural service projects twice a year in different communities across the Philippines, bringing together volunteers who are willing to share their time, skills, and resources with families in need.
The outreach in Ticao Island is a reminder that service does not always have to begin with something big. Sometimes, it begins with a willingness to give what we have received—whether it is our time, talents, resources, or simply our presence.
Through initiatives such as this, communities are reminded that they are not forgotten, while volunteers are given the opportunity to live out the values of compassion, faith, generosity, and social responsibility.
